From Prompt to Product: The Generative AI Workflow

Using generative AI effectively is more than just typing a simple prompt. To create professional-quality work, you need a structured workflow. This process transforms you from a passive user into a creative director, orchestrating AI models to achieve your specific vision.

Step 1: Concept & Storyboard

Don't start with the tools. Start with the idea. What story are you trying to tell? What is the key emotion you want to evoke? Create a simple storyboard or shot list. For a 30-second video, this could be as simple as 5-7 key scenes or visual ideas.

Step 2: Asset Generation - The Iterative Loop

This is where the prompting happens, but it's a cycle, not a single step.

  • Generate Images: Start by creating the key visual assets for your storyboard. Use advanced prompting techniques: specify camera angles (e.g., "cinematic wide shot"), lighting ("dramatic rim lighting"), and artistic style ("in the style of anime").
  • Generate Video: Use your best still images as a starting point for video generation. Prompt the AI to add specific motion (e.g., "gentle zoom in," "subtle wind blowing through hair").
  • Generate Audio: Create a custom soundtrack by prompting for mood and tempo ("upbeat, optimistic electronic track"). Generate voiceovers and sound effects separately.
The key is iteration. Generate multiple options for each asset and select the best ones.

Step 3: Assembly & Post-Production

This is where you bring it all together. Import your generated video clips, images, and audio into a video editing tool (like CapCut or DaVinci Resolve). This is where you control the timing, add transitions, and layer your sound effects and music. This final editing step is what transforms a collection of AI assets into a polished, professional product.
